I follow 1894 Cottonwood House and she share some new blackened wax designs. I decided to get some. The Jack O'Laterns come in a two pack and the small pumpkins come as a twelve pack. They are rolled in cinnamon and smell lovely.
I also ordered some of their snowflakes that also come in a twelve pack and added them to my wire tree I got several years ago in Houston at the International Quilt Shop.
They fit perfectly with my tree.
My friend Ethel gave me this lovely Turquoise bottle with coloured glass, turquoise stones and silver. It's hard to get a full shot of just the bottle.
My last wax purchase was this angel sampler. I've also added it to the tree.
They package everything in this black and cream gingham tissue paper and tie it up with thin string.
Inside this package was two patterns. Van Tassel's pumpkins...

It arrived very quickly and was packaged in a sturdy box.
I also got my wonky log cabin blocks yesterday. These are folded into quarters. I plan to take them to my retreat and put them up on a design wall to see how they play together.
We used grunge fabrics along with stripes and polka dots. We were asked not to use any white backgrounds in our fabrics.
They come from all over, Nebraska, Washington, California, New England.
I did get two of mine back, I think we must have had a last minute drop out.
I also got my finishing kit from Primitive Gatherings yesterday. It was missed with the finishing kit and last set of BOW blocks and they were kind enough not to charge me shipping and it arrived within a week of letting them know about the error. Great service. I know a few people have recently had troubles but they've always been great replacing my missing items when it has happened to me.
A better look not thru the plastic for the finished freebie. Not to get it stitched. They even included the 1/2" paper guides for those 1/2" triangle blocks!
I know this won't be done this year but Buttermilk Basin had a sale earlier this month and after stitching their Let It Snow freebie I've decided I wanted Merrie Halloween. It is a 12" block. I'm thinking of making it smaller but have to choose my wools first.
Under my needle is this long neglected BOM Cinnia from the Cloth Shop here in Vancouver. I saw Maria one of the owners working on one of the blocks and knew I wanted to do it. It was meant to be cut and fused but I decided to do mine with freezer paper applique. Glad I did as just after I got the first block I broke a bone in my foot and was off work for 16 or so weeks. Time to get her done.
I'm down to the border triangles.
I decided to carry over the missing design elements of leaves and stems into the borders and adjacent blocks. A bit more and the binding will be added.
