7th Annual Quayside Boardwalk Sale.

Yesterday was our annual boardwalk sale, each year it grows in size.

Although the day was cloudy it was a great day for selling with a breeze coming off the river.

At several places they had seating for people to enjoy live music. Just outside my condo was a good 70's revival rock group. Couldn't get a good picture of them though. There were also service groups, politicians, information booths along with food and beverage vendors.

All sorts of things for sale but restraint was my guide. Last year they had a local realtor with a dunk tank.

The river is tidal and despite the sandbar the tugs were out doing their thing. Temperatures got into the mid twenties, and it was a bit muggy.

This beautiful bike was on display, not vintage and not for sale but lots of admirers.

Beautiful leather seat.

Love those tires.

Viva Kilo, company is only 5 years old.

Beautiful Nantucket Bike Basket.

Zinnias along the boardwalk.

Beautiful flowers all around they photograph so nice with the overcast skies.

Love the bees.

The aftermath, tablecloths to be gathered. Note not much trash, neighbourly pride.

Shopping carts used to move things to vehicles.

My one purchase for the day a sugar/syrup dispenser for the outrageous price of one dollar! Love the lemon yellow and the hexagon shape of the glass.

Now to wait for next years sale and maybe set up a table of my own.

Sand Pail Swap!

Once again our on line Mary Lou Weidman hoochy mama swap group had had some summer fun.  This year we mail sand pails.  This first one was made by Dorothy Marx.
Mary Wilde made us a shovel along with her flip flop pail.
Edie Faile pieced this sail boat in Red White and Blue.
Maree Whitely made this delightful under the sea pail.
Mari Linfesty our swap hostess make these cute fruit lady pails.
Tina Neppl use Mary Lou's great plaid for her pail.
This is my adult version of a sand pail, you have to be over 21 to enjoy.
I like the angle that this pail takes, not sure who made it though.
Roxanne O'Hare made this great turtle pale, love that turquoise colour.
Rebecka Schafer had some fun with red and blue.
Great stars and some fun sand fabrics, sorry no name once again.
Deb Worster gave us this patriotic red white and blue with the sail boat.
Carmen Damico made this lovely pail.
I live along the Fraser River and today the tide was out so I could take my pails and go dig in the sandbar outside my condo if I like.
Thanks to everyone especially Mary Lou for organizing this swap.  Many thanks to Mari Linfesty for once again being our swap hostess.

July happenings

July 8th was the annual Show and Shine of cars along Columbia street.  I love these old "ice cream car colours.  They were dazzling in the sunshine.
What a lovely old boom box radio.
Check out the A&W tray on the window.
 Great props.
These are one of my favourite car colours.
Check out the minature in the back window.
Love the dice hanging off the mirror.
 Back to the gardens.
 Beautiful colours.
 Pollen gathering.
Crazy bird ornaments in my friend Elke's garden.
 An attentive gardener.
 Another crazy bird.
Beautiful blooms in a cool retreat of shade.
 Great colour of pink.
Some wall art.
My cousin's first grandchild Griffin waiting for the Dim Sum to arrive, chewing on the puppy my mom gave him.
Great Grand Auntie Ann and Griffin at the end of a great meal.

Summer is here and the river is arising!

Today was my first chance to get outside and take some pictures since the official arrival of Summer.
We've had a very wet cold Spring but the gardens are looking very lush. It rained yesterday and overnight, but the sun is out right now.  The foxglove looks so pretty with the raindrops on it.
In Rita's garden a few of her poppies are still blooming.  Last week her had a gorgeous display of peach ones, but it was a downpour on the weekend and I missed taking pictures.
This guy is one of the few remaining peach ones, love the curve of the stem and petals.
Looking up the Fraser River where there is flooding happening.  We had a couple of warmer sunny days and Rita tells me there is water in her garage.  I better check mine out.
The tide is heading out, but the river is high.
Beautiful colour and design of nature.
I think that is the highest I've ever seen the river since moving here in 1988.
The trees are looking lush and green.
The bush roses are in full bloom, check out the ant on the petal.
These buds seemed to glow, sun found them and everything else was in shade.
The peonies outside my place are putting on a great show.
Love the feathery centre of this one.
Pale pink just sparkling in the sun.
 An almost perfect blossom.
The train bridge over the river and looking west.
One of my neighbours has some lovely roses outside her condo, this will look lovely when the sun creeps around the corner.  Those leaves couldn't look healthier.
Cross your fingers that the river doesn't come too high.
