Playing with hexagons and some new purchases.

The other day I was playing with some of the fabrics I used in my two bionic gear bags.  I decided to make a larger needle case, using some lovely linen for the outside.  I used 1/2" hexagons, I'm getting close to the end of the fun tropical drink fabric and had some fun cutting it out.
I decided to have the designs linking rather than being a complete flower design and this is what I came out with.  The first two photos don't really show the colour of the linen correctly.
I also decided to have some fun with the needle pages and added a pop of colour.

This photo is closer to the actual colour of the linen.
Here is the back of the needle case once everything was stitched on and inside.

I also took advantage of the recent Dorr Mills wool sale and got some yard cuts of Dragonfly, Smokey and Chimney Sweep.

This is part of the Blue bundle I got, the top left is quite a dark navy and the one below white.
This is the other half of the blue bundle.

I also got the honeycomb texture bundle.
Here is the other half of it, I love that lemony yellow in the bottom right.

I decided to also get two of Primitive Gatherings new table runners.  I think one of the honeycomb wools may be used for this basket.

I'm also a big fan of snowmen so this guy came home also.

Dorr Mill Store sale purchases.

Dorr Mill Store sells some lovely wool, and they currently have their January sale on.  I went to look and couldn't resist buying some of these lovely wools.
These first three are larger pieces I plan to use for a background.  The green will be used for a Christmas tree.
These smaller pieces attracted me with their colour.  They all are folded in half.
The next group was bought as a bundle, I like the visual texture they offer and the rainbow effect.  With some clever placement you could feature just one or two of the colours.
They also have some of their kits on sale, I don't think I got mine on sale but they have it on right now along with some other one.  Check them out at this link.

Ready to be quilted

I decided that I wanted to get a couple of snowman UFO's finished up. This one was in Primitive Quilts and Projects. It is a Primitive Pieces by Lynda Hall, called Cold Days. It just needs to be sandwiched and quilted. I'll be pinning it shortly and will start on it tonight. Lynda has a blog here.

I added my signature moon and star and my initials to the from of the piece.

I chose a black and white snowflake flannel for this piece and used a lot of recycled wools I've picked up or felted myself.

Rather than button hole stitch around the pieces I had fun with various stitches. I think I'll put a button on the bird one the piece is quilted.

Love this cross-eyed joyful guy.

This guy is photo bombing from above.

This one is balancing a package on his head.

Last night I finished the last of the stitching on Frosty Mugs by Threads that Bind. I got this as a kit from the Dorr Mill Store, they have a special of no shipping the the U.S. And 50% for international orders. Their kit is a good deal. You get all the wools including a backing (I'm keeping the backing for another project) for $35.00! I've seen it for a lot more on other shops.

I've decided to use a red cotton that had a window pane check look to it.

I'm still toying with adding a moon and star to the top of the piece. But will get the batting and backing ready and then make a final decision. It wouldn't take long to do a last minute addition.

Here is a picture that comes with the pattern, it is a fun piece to do. Check Dorr Mill Store here.
