Thanksgiving Weekend

Canadian Thanksgiving is this weekend, last weekend I took some pictures of a couple of different flowers.  I'm not sure what this one but it reminds me of an artichoke.
The colour the leaves of this peony are turning are very pretty.
The coleus looks like it was gilded with gold.
This birch tree has a luscious lemon colour to the leaves.
A straw flower in oranges and yellow.
The ladybug came for a visit to this zinnia, this week they have all been removed from the gardens.
I like watching how the leaves of the witch hazel change colour over a couple of weeks.
 Red coloured oak leaf hydrangea.
A snail found it's way up onto this witch hazel leaf.
The beauty berries and leaves are so pretty.
Today is much like the photo in this picture, blue skies with the sun shining.
This is one of my favourite seasonal quilts.
This another of my favourite autumn quilts, I ran out of the black pumpkin fabric and substituted the orange polka dot one..you might not have noticed if I didn't mention it.
May you all enjoy your Thanksgiving weekend with family and friends.

Red is the colour for November.... These trees were blazing red last week when I photographed them along the streets of New Westminster.
The yellow and red mingle nicely together on these two trees.
The grass was carpeted with leaves of interesting colours and designs.
I participated in two exchanges last month through and online group with Mary Lou Weidman. From my friend Karen in Tucson I got this whimsical yo yo spider that she made for me.
She also sent me some fun Fall items. The pumpkin hand is actually a pen! The package of racked leave buttons are very cute. We were part of a Thanksgiving exchange, but Canada celebrates our in October, so Karen sent me some Fall items instead. The welcome sign is hanging in my entry, and the Fall towels are now in my bathroom.
Tina in California and I exchanged Halloween/ Fall items, she decorated this plastic paint pale and had it stuffed with goodies.
Inside there was two packages to make dips, some floral hankies, napkins, 3 scented candles, some fun cookie cutters, Halloween candy treats. The cat with a crown is a votive candle holder! The spider crown is sitting on top of the fabric strips.

Happy Thanksgiving weekend...Friday I found some frost along the quay! I walked down to my friend Rita's to visit and quilt with some friends. This sunflower is one found in my friend Rita's garden.
This one has a different centre than the one above.
This one was being visited by a ladybug.
These two were being close and cozy, but are from two different plants.
This one was just starting to develop its lovely yellow petals.
This chocolate coloured flower looks good enough to eat and appears to be floating.
This bee was busy on this flower for quite some time.
All these sunflowers were in Rita's garden! Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving weekend.

Fall is one of my favourite times of the year. This weekend is Thanksgiving here in Canada and yesterday I took my mom over to my brother's and sister's-in-law for a great dinner. Three of their four children joined us.

We had a rainy drive out to Chilliwack, but a dry drive back. Chilliwack is about an hour drive from my home in the Vancouver area.

Today we had a lovely sunny fall day, I went for a walk along the Quay and took some pictures. This one was taken in October 2005, today was almost as sunny. I'll add some more pictures from today later.
