Santa Comes But Once A Year

Bringing Toys and Cheer...ho ho ho.  I finished the applique on this little Cheri Payne quilt last night just before midnight.  It needs the words to be embroidered along the top and side of the quilt.  I plan on doing that today while waiting for the turkey to cook for dinner tonight.
I started appliqueing the Santas just about noon on Friday.
A closer peek at Santa, I'll add buttons for eyes once it is quilted.  All the backgrounds have stars on them.
You might be able to see that three of the branches have words on them.  The top says Spirit, the fourth says Kindness Wonder and the bottom says Share the Love, Feel the Joy.
Got my Christmas tree up last night, it was a swap of Christmas ornaments with my Mary Lou Weidman group.  We all used the same background and then put them together as we wished.
I also hung my favourite Primitive Gatherings Winter Banner.
We still have snow on the ground but not expecting any to fall today but maybe tomorrow.  It is sunny and bright.  Have a very Merry Christmas with family and friends.

Christmas Day.

On the far left you can see a bit of one of our local mountains with fresh snow peeking thru the clouds. My mom has some lovely views from her 13th floor corner suite.

The cloud shapes are so interesting hovering over the mountains.

To the left of the communication array the sun is on the snow.

Looking to the southwest you can see the north and south arms of the Fraser River. The double H bridge is the Alex Fraser Bridge.

Every night as the sun sets the crows fly to roost in threes a few miles away, this goes on for quite a time.

Sun shining on the river looking almost due west.

Looking more south towards the bridge again.

I gave mom my little quilts to enjoy. She bought me the moon and stars stand.

Driving home I spotted the Full Cold Moon and took this picture.

Down on the quay I took this one, you can make out the two towers for the sky train bridge and the lights of one of the trains crossing over the Fraser River.

Hope you had a lovely day, we did.

Merry Christmas to all. These are the only snowflakes in sight this year. This tree is a favourite of mine.
This guy is a tree with snowballs for decoration and wishing Winter Greetings.

Happy Christmas Eve...what a difference a year can make. This evening I took this picture of a glorious sunset from my balcony. As you can see the sky is clear, not a flake of snow to be seen. The air is crisp and clear. Last year the days started a little bit different from almost the same spot on my balcony...the snow was coming.
The same view at almost the same time one year later, what a difference! But wait, what will tomorrow bring? Merry Christmas everyone, may you spend it with friends and family and receive some lovely gifts.

Santa arrived late last night to leave presents for good little girls and boys. The sun came out late this afternoon, notice how the snow is up to the bottom of the bench in front of my condo.
The sky had a grey band across it and we had some snow flurries several times during the day, but the afternoon sun gave everything a pretty glow.
The river almost looked like it was painted by a Dutch master.
A tug comes along side of the Surrey Fraser docks. Deep water freighters come up here to unload their cargo.
This snowman looks like he might be related to an elephant?
Over the years I've given my mom some fun Christmas figurines that she displays on her glass topped tables throughout her home.
For a time I gave her Santa Claus figurines.
This merry soul counts down the days before Christmas.
This year I gave her this lime green tinsel tree with lights attached...it looks rather charming don't you think?
When I drove home I found this snow-clad motor home parked in front of my condo, the city had ploughed the roads, and they won't be moving anywhere too quickly.
The Christmas lights decorate our courtyard and the two tower condos across the street from us.I went for a walk along the quay to see how some of the other condos were decorated.
These deer with the star wreath look very delicate in the white lights.
The red, green and white almost looks like a candy cane with a blue spiral tree behind.
Here is hoping you had an enjoyable day with family and friends.
Merry Christmas from the white wintry west coast of Canada...for the first time in 40 years we are white from coast to coast! Saturday I took some pictures of the ice in the Fraser River. The ice made some interesting patterns on the river and you could hear it moving about if you listened closely.Sunday night it started to snow and by Monday morning we were blanketed by snow. I took this picture of the parking lot at work as the sun was coming up.
I walked over the berm to look at the street where I usually parked. Just a car of one of the homeowners across the street was seen.
Looking down the other way, a few brave souls decided to try and navigate the unploughed street. There is a small roundabout that made for tricky navigating.
The evergreens looked stately with their mantles of snow.
Wednesday we had another storm through the night, I took public transportation to work for the second time that week. The side street and trees were even deeper in snow.
Then evergreens are starting to get weighed down with their snowy coats. You can just see the Central station sign on the old train station behind the trees.
This Christmas morning I woke up to a snow covered courtyard. About 11 a.m. the snow started to fall again.
The pond and waterfall are still flowing, despite the cold weather.
The snow has been falling on and off this morning, the turkey is in the oven and beginning to smell wonderful. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and hopes you are spending it with family and friends.
