Day 5 with Mary Lou.

Today Mary Lou brought along the Tonga Treats along with the Delft Sketch that we are going to use for the basket swap.



Here is a basket that she quickly whipped up, she will add a Rick rack handle to it later.


Wendy's Christmas Candy Cow is dancing, she is going to be wearing boots.


Judy has been a fusing queen.


Love those fish and star fish.


The ell and no fishing sign are cute, she fussy cut the sea horse.


Is not that turtle cut?


Here are my 17 flowers for the swap along with the watering can I made for the last one. We are using all the same golden yellows. I wanted to add leaves but ran out of time. They are flying off to L.A. With Mari this afternoon. The checkerboard fabric is an old design of Mary Lou's.


The retreat is over, but I'm going to explore Spokane this afternoon and then head home tomorrow. A great time was had by all and lots of creativity shared. Thanks so much to Tina for cooking and encouraging and Mary Lou for all her inspiration.

Retreat day 4 with Mary Lou

Here is a picture of all my fish together. I'm planning on doing some appliqué in the blank space in the middle. I probably will add some borders to it, but will think on it for a bit.


Breakfast started with a lovely fruit salad.


Cappuccino muffins with chocolate cappuccino spread.


My pet flamingo has a bit of bling thanks to the fairies. Love the pink leparr handbag, it has chocolate coins inside.


Wendy decided that Candy the cow had to have a star tiara, a holly collar along with some berries are being added. She will be up to her knees in icy snow. Wendy has been having fun designing her.

Caesar salad with chicken mozzarella pizza for dinner.


The pizza was delicious.


Sandy has been working on her appliqué cow.


I got a good start on my flowers for the upcoming exchange. The checkerboard is a fabric designed by Mary Lou and the polka dots I used for my watering can. I think I'm going to add stems and leaves.


Mari put some borders onto her birds of paradise quilt.


Judy has been adding her fused appliqué pieces, love her turtle.


Cathy decided to make her granddaughter larger and will add the Lincoln monument along with the Washington monument, fireflies, herself and some words.


Janine has been busy making flowers.


Cyndi has expanded to a handbag and a shoe, flying geese and a heart.


Carol is making steady progress.


Tomorrow will be our last day. We've had a good time, today we went to the Coeur d'Alene hotel for a lovely lunch and enjoyed watching sea planes landing and taking off and the boats cruising the lake.

Day 2 Mary Lou retreat

Yesterday I noticed some bright colours as I approached the Jacklin Art Centre but didn't stop to check them out. Today I stopped and took a closer look, poppies!

By 10 o'clock I finished getting my birds together. I have a few ideas to add but I'm not sharing these yet.


We then went on a field trip to Bear Paw Quilting in Coeur d'Alene, a very nice shop.

End of day 2 this is Cathy's granddaughter seeing fireflies for the first time by the Lincoln Monument.


Sister Judy's octopus has a head, the face will be done with embellished ribbon and braid. Her jacket with have a badge that the volunteers wear at the aquarium.


Wendy's Christmas cow had a 3-D holly collar on but is being prepped to be stitched on.


California Sandy is making Mademooseille Chocowlate's Cafe. Notice the body is a chocolate mousse cake, her ears are cuccakrs.


Carol's collection of blocks is growing along with her first potted flower.

Mari's birds of paradise are coming together. Her lettering is all straight edged but from a distance it looks curved.


My far right fish are all stitched together, and the cluster of five are also stitched. I'm planning on having some spaces to maybe out some kelp or more sea creatures. The guy on the lower right has two smaller fish that he is chasing.
