Free Blocks of the Month Projects.

Stacy West from Buttermilk Basin  has a Mystery BOM featuring wool.  Here is my January block that I've already shared.  Stacy is releasing her patterns on the 15th of each month.
Here is the February block.  I decided to use the same background for all my blocks and carry over wool from one month to another.
The blocks side by side showing the two greens and the pineapple wool fabrics being used in both blocks.  I introduced a turquoise plaid wool and the pink as new colours.  Stacy is a wonderful designer and you can still download her patterns through her blog.  She also sells some kits that sell out very quickly!
I recently joined a Facebook Wool Applique group and this was the February Ornament of the Month designed by Trish Harriman from Attic Heirlooms she offers the OOM as a freebie for that month along with a kit.  If you miss the freebie you can also purchase it via the BOM link.
Another Ornament of the Month freebie I found is from Bunny Hill Designs I decided not to make the ornament but to applique it onto a background instead. Here is my January Angel.
Here is the February Bluebird and Heart.  The patterns can be found under their "free" tab called Snow Happy Hearts on their blog. They are doing theirs all in cotton, I'm using wool for the hearts and snowmen on a cotton background.
Here are my two hearts side by side, there is a bit of variation in the two red background hearts and I used a Buggy Barn grey/blue star basics from Henry Glass as a background.
A bit of February whimsy for you, I went down to Granville Island last Thursday to pick up a BOM and each time I go there I want to take a picture of the cement factory storage units but forget.  Well here you go, are these not a fun way to disguise some units.  At Christmas they decorated their trucks up with Christmas lights. In the lower right hand corner you can see the red cement truck with gold/yellow dots, the cab is a bright blue.  What wonderful creativity in an unexpected spot!

April temperatures in February!

We've had an interesting Winter so far in the Vancouver area where I live.  We've had several bouts of Hawaiian Express weather episodes which dumps lots of rain and milder temperatures in the area.  Several of our local mountains have little or no snow and have either suspended or closed their ski seasons.
I hadn't gone walking along the quay for awhile and spotted some sure signs of Spring.  We often have lots of crocuses and snowdrops at this time of the year, but even the peonies have started to emerge.
These rhododendrons often bloom in Autumn and in the Spring.
I love the colour of these blooms as they change from bud to blossom.
The yellow Witch Hazel is always a few weeks behind it's orange cousin.

Mini Irises are also in bloom.
A few snowdrops still hanging around.

Always love the mix of colours in this planter.

 Loved the striped versions.
Great contrast of the orange against the dark mauve to purple.
 Hellebore in bloom.
 Mini daffodils.
Another lovely Hellebore in Rita's Garden.
 Lovely.
 A mini tulip.

One of my favourite photos of the day; first bee of the season.
My favourite picture, a striped crocus with a lovely orange centre.

Life in the Banana Belt of Canada!

Saturday I spotted this cherry tree in bloom but didn't have my camera with me.
Sunday I picked up my mom and took her for a drive to see it.
We also found these old cherry trees in bloom along Victoria Drive in Vancouver.
 Graceful silhouette!
Sitting on the grass enjoying the sunshine, life on the west coast of Canada is beautiful in the winter!

My Wool Sewing Case..

In 2010 I discovered Wool Crazy by JoAnn Mulally.  I convinced three other friends to participate in a wool round robin.  At the time a lot of people were making their projects into pincushions.  I decided to make mine into a sewing case.  The first one I made has a Summer theme to it and has "Leave Room in the Garden for the Fairies to Dance."
Case opened up with a few necessary sewing supplies.
 View from the bottom.
The second one I made I did all the stitching on the top myself.  Winter theme for a Winter born baby!
Snowflakes inside.  Stitched on the side it says "Snowflakes are Angel Kisses."
 Signed bottom.
I can't figure out how to load a pd f link for you to print so I scanned my Word document and made it a jpeg.  You should be able to right mouse click on the images and print them off.

If you do make one I'd love to see a photo of it and please give me credit for the instructions. If you have a blog please link it to this page for others to enjoy.

I just realized this is my 401 post, a gift for you to enjoy!

Hi, so glad to have finished this cute guy for my birthday. It is a January bitty banner by Lily Anna Stitches.

But more than once I've had snow on my birthday so he suits me well!

We Support You!

Today was supposed to be the day I shared with you my project but unfortunately I've had a flare up of my Rheumatoid Arthritis and my hands have not been cooperating with me in what I wanted to do.

I would ask that you do check out the other participants today and hopefully in the near future I will have a project to share with you.
