August 1st vintage find

Yesterday my mom and I went to Fort Langley to check out some of the antique shops there.  I came across this old hand crank Singer Sewing machine and decided to add it to my collection

 From what I can find it appears to be an 1819 vintage machine.  Some of the paint has worn off, but the wheel moves freely.

 In the little tool box I found 3 spools of thread one Made in Canada. 

 On closer inspection it is Silk.  There are 5 extra bobbins and an extra bobbin holder

 There is also an interesting metal needle threader that includes instructions and states it can be used on sewing machines.

 Something that I chose to pass on was this lovely old quilt.

 The batting appeared to be either wool or cotton and was in not to bad of condition.  I may have to take a second look at it.

 Yesterday I came home to find this book in my mail box.  I ordered it a couple of weeks ago and have been waiting for it's arrival.  I first found out about it on SewCalGal's blog http://sewcalgal.blogspot.ca/2012/05/do-you-know-any-quilters-that-like-to.html

I decided to order one, after a little glitch it arrived and I'm looking forward to getting a lot of use of it for both my quilting interest and checking out some other fiber shops.
