Gwennie Medallion QAL round finally done!

Last month I didn't get my tulip basket log cabin done in time to post a picture for the link up.  So this is what I ended up with I think the log cabins sort of look like tulip fields in the distance.  I'm very pleased how it worked up once I finally got them all made.
Stars is the theme for this round and I decided on my dark and light backgrounds for the stars.
 Playing with possible placements.
Voila the top is done.  Love how it worked out.
My Turquoise background Gwen inspired background with log cabins.
Stars and moons for it's border.

 Pink Gwennie baskets with logs.
Playing with where things will go for the turquoise background.
 And for the pink background.
 Finished Turquoise background.
Finished Pink background.  They both make me think of the Italian houses built into the cliffs.
Remember my friend Ethel's Sea Basket?
Her first round was Sand Castles, then she added logs that had drifted up onto the sandy beaches around Vancouver and Stars in the sky and over the water for this round.
So we both are all caught up now to add something Fishy, Ethel's theme has been an happy accident for this suggested theme.  Me I may have to think on it for awhile.

I'm linking up with Lori's blog Humble Quilts for this go around once again.

Your medallions are looking so fun--love them! I'm going to have trouble fitting in a fishy theme on mine also--I hope I can come up with something I'm going to like--lol!

I love all three of these quilts. Your friend is lucky that her quilt fits the final theme. After much thought I managed to come up with an idea and am well on the way to completing mine now.

Ethel really does have it made for this next round, doesn't she?! There are lots of options for her though so it will be fun to see what she comes up with. I love the way you've created a horizon line with your pink and turquoise round. The light stars on the dark backgrounds in your other medallion are very dramatic. Wonderful work all around!

Oh, I love them all - especially those black and white stars and your friends. Now for me to catch up. I hope to get it done once this commission quilt is finished. Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Sandi.

I am impressed with how you added stars to both quilts, Sandi. I really like the tulip top with the grey background for the light stars. And I'm really impressed with the blue sky and yellow stars glowing above the community of houses. What an inventive us for the house fabric!

I love how you are doing them, at first I thought it looked strange but then all together, they are beautiful.
I think that is when i do my best work, when someone challenges me to do one thing and i have to figure out how to use it in the design, makes us more creative and you certainly did a fabulous job on using starts in both.

Fishy - hmmm, easy for your friend! Maybe for your baskets ... but fishy and your flowers, a little more difficult. I look forward to seeing what you do. Everything looks great on this post. I really like the housing fabric you used for the bottom of the pink and turquoise backgrounds quilts. That is clever and goes perfectly with the whole idea. You know you are an over-achiever, right? LOL
