I can't believe it is June 1st! I took the photo of this peony along the quay yesterday. A few days ago they were tightly closed buds.
These ones are in a neighbour of my friend Rita's garden. It looks like someone clapped it between their hands. But the bush is looking wonderful.
A bearded iris along the quay.
Love the colour of this purple one in Rita's Garden.
I love the bright yellow beard hairs standing up if you take a closer look.
Her poppies are still blooming and she will have a red orange one coming out soon.
Sunday I took my mom for a drive to Stanley Park. It has been named the number 1 Urban Park in the world! I used to live within walking distance of this park. It has a seawall that runs around it for just over 5 km. It was hot on Sunday almost 33C or almost 95F too early, it is only Spring!
My focus on quilting was completing this top. I never worked on anything else this month. Background is machine pieced and the rest is hand appliqued. Now I need to piece a backing and start quilting it.
I'm heading to Spokane to do a workshop retreat with Mary Lou Weidman. On the agenda is the Farm Chicks Vintage Sale and also their ArtFest. We will do a little tour of the city along with some visits to a couple of quilt shops in the area. I plan to work on putting some swap blocks together and do some applique on some of the blocks I've already pieced together in the evenings in my hotel room.
Plan on checking out a few antique and quilt shops along the drive coming and going!
Stay tuned to what we got up to when I return. Enjoy the first weekend of June.

Have a wondeful retreat and safe and fun travels. I'll be waiting to hear all about it.
Beautiful flowers, love seeing everything in bloom. I hope you have a wonderful time at the retreat.

Enjoy your warmer weather. The flowers are lovely. You have done well with your work on the tulip quilt. Regards, Nessie
Enjoy that trip. I know how much you like your Weidman getaways! I do like your tulip quilt and your applique seems to have gone pretty fast. What lovely flowers you shared, but I can't believe it is so hot there! We haven't yet had a day that was 90 - close but not quite and there you are in an area I think of as nice and cool - and it was 95!
We can't grow Peonies here but I so love them!
