Shopping and organizing stitching.

Friday Rita and I went out for Dim Sum lunch and some notion shopping.

I also had the background arrive for an upcoming project.

I belong to an on line wool appliqué group and share how I organize my BOM Bird Dance blocks.

These folders have about forty plastic sleeves in them. When my blocks arrive I put the fabrics in the shipping back along with the printed directions.

I keep some circle templates in the front pocket along with a 6" square that helps me with placement and tracing of multiple circles rather than tracing them.

This is the current set I'm working on.

First I do all the background stitching and then whip stitch down the wool and do any additional appliqué.

The next group of sealable plastic bags are waiting for the next set of blocks.

This is one of the first set of 15 blocks already done. The left over wool, cotton and silk velvet pieces are in sealable bags in the back of the booklet.

Hope you find this helpful for your BOM.

Notion shopping is fun and great for the bird blocks too.

Where might I buy that folder? What size blocks does it hold?

That's a great idea. I wonder if I can find journals like that online. I haven't seen any in stores here. I'm sure I can buy just the sleeves and a notebook to put them in, though. That's sort of how I organized my stitch samples from Carole Samples' Crazy Quilt Treasury book.
